Linear Fluorescent Ballasts

Inside everyone of those pesky fluorescent light fixtures is what we in the lighting industry call a Ballast. A ballast is basically the heart of the fluorescent fixture. A ballasts takes the electricity and sends it through the fluorescent lights allowing them to burn the gases inside the tube creating the light. Since there is no fillement inside a fluorescent tube, the ballast is what keeps the constant stream of electricit flowing from one end of the tube to the other. The longer the tube is, the more powerful the ballast is to keep the continuous flow of electricity. Without the ballast the fluorescent tubes wouldn't work.
